ELECTRONIC ARTS SIGNS U.S. WOMEN'S SOCCER STAR JULIE FOUDY TO COMMENTATE FOR FIFA 2000: MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER GAME

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., September 8, 1999-Electronic Arts(tm) (Nasdaq:ERTS), the world's largest interactive entertainment software company, today announced it signed an exclusive agreement with U.S. Women's Soccer player and ESPN commentator Julie Foudy.  Foudy, a standout member of the World Champion U.S. Women's Soccer team, is the featured color commentator for FIFA 2000: Major League Soccer.   An experienced and well-respected commentator, Foudy has announced for U.S. Men's Soccer matches and co-anchored the MLS Cup on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2.

"I'm honored that EA SPORTS chose me to be one of the commentators for the new FIFA 2000: Major League Soccer games," said Julie Foudy. "I have a lot of fun on the field, and I like to bring that energy into my broadcast work whether I am commentating for MLS games or for FIFA 2000: Major League Soccer."

About Julie Foudy
The U.S. Women's Soccer team co-captain and 12-year veteran of the team, Foudy, earned an Olympic gold medal and a World Cup Championship as a member of the squad.  She was also a four-time All-American at Stanford where she majored in Human Biology.  Julie has been accepted to medical school at Stanford but has decided to focus on soccer and her career in broadcasting. When not busy with her national team duties, Julie continues to do more on-air commentating, and is preparing for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney where she   and her teammates will be defending their gold medal.  In addition, Foudy was awarded the prestigious FIFA Fair Play Award for her work on behalf of anti-child labor issues; she was the first American and the first woman so honored.
